Musings From the Heart of Stanley Burrell

My my my music hits me...so hard
Makes me say, "Oh, my Lord,
Thank You, for blessing me
with a mind to rhyme and a too hype beat."
It feels good, when you know you're down
A super dope homeboy from the Oak-town;
and I'm known as such...
And this is a beat, uh, ya can't touch
You can't touch this

Fresh new kicks, advance
You gotta like that, now you know you wanna dance
So move, outta your seat
And get a fly girl and catch this beat
While it's rolling, hold on
Pump a little bit and let'em know it's going on
Like that, like that
Cold on a mission so call them back
Let 'em know, that you're too much
And this is a beat, uh, you can't touch
You can't touch this

Give me a song, or rhythm
Making 'em sweat, that's what I'm giving 'em
Now, they know
You talking about the Hammer you talking about a show
That's hype, and tight
Singers are sweating so pass them a wipe
Or a tape, to learn
What's it gonna take in the '90s to burn
The charts? Legit
Either work hard or you might as well quit

That's word because you know...

You can't touch this

Go with the funk, it is said
That if you can't groove to this then you probably are dead
So wave your finger in the air
Bust a few moves, run your fingers through your hair
This is it, for a winner
Dance to this and your gonna get thinner
Move, slide your rump
Just for a minute let's all do the bump, bump, bump
You can't touch this
You can't touch this

Every time you see me
The Hammer's just so hype
I'm dope on the floor and I'm magic on the mic
Now why would I ever stop doing this?
With others making records that just don't hit
I've toured around the world, from London to the Bay
It's "Hammer, go Hammer, MC Hammer, yo Hammer"
And the rest can go and play

You can't touch this
You can't touch this
You can't touch this

(Next time Patrick Swayze's She's Like the Wind)

I see that my evolution of dance video has inspired you to quote the legendary Hammer. I agree with Betty that you should perform your personal rendition

What's scary is that instead of just "reading" the blog, I was "singing" the blog. Yikes!

Weekends at Club 1056 often have Hammer-style songs, though we prefer Salt N Pepa and C & C Music Factory. All are welcome for our own version of DDR. We don't dance on the bar...just the coffee table. (Am I allowed to be a Baptist and say that?!?)

but landlord...did ya do the dance?

Alright, I am assuming that while each of you read the lyrics you were at least singing them to yourself...if my objective was met then each of you were not only singing it out loud but you had broke into a full on running man or crazy legs.

Uhoh, Uhoh...Here comes the Hammer.

No, I couldn't break out the Hammer in fear of waking the tenant. I did do a search for my Hammer pants though.

You can't touch this.

Lookin' forward to She's Like the Wind. Yes!

if you take the risk of "dancing" on landlord's coffee table, just make sure you stay on cause falling off and injuring the back of your leg is so not Hammer Time.

Millenium Hip-Hop Party is da bomb.
